breakfast number 2 by the poolside! yummers..miss the huge breakfast that's missing here in singapore..
here's the round the whole resort pool..it's beside some sand pit. and ppl would just walk into the pool with sandy feet. so the first step of the pool was way sandy..surprisingly there was no sand in the rest of the pool.
so after brekkie we headed back to the room for more self-timer fun!
so after we checked out we headed to the Stockton Bight sand dunes for our 4WD tour and sand boarding! here's what it is from off youtube: Covering an area of over 2,500 hectares along the 32km long stretch of beach, dunes of brilliant while sand climb up to 40 metres high with slopes up to 60 degrees. The unvegetated wind blown sand dunes of Stockton Bight comprise the largest sand mass in mainland Eastern Australia. The dune mass moves landward at a rate of up to 10 metres per year.
really nice picture of my dad that my mum took while on board the 4 wheel-drive..dang i want something like this too..
so we thought the 4WD was going to be really scary and bumpy but it wasn't. so we thought the sand dunes wouldn't be scary as well. but when we reached there..gosh! the slopes of the sand dune was sooo steep..i would have to stand really at the edge to see the bottom..here's the view about 1metre away from the edge. you can see bernice just pushed off from the top of the dune..
so i was just hesitating and all coz it looked really steep. and onboard the bus, the guide said that no matter what you did, your arms had to be behind you coz many people had their arms popped out of their arm sockets because they put their arms in front to break their fall. then along came the same guide who dragged me to the edge of the dune, placed me on the board...
and he said 'are you ready but it doesn't matter coz off you go!' and he pushed me off!! well it just felt like one huge slide! and at the end you're engulfed in wisps of sand! fun!
bernice went after me and she had this really hot guy! unfair! anyways it turned out that going down was the easy part..the climbing up the sand dune was sooo tiring! and the sand was really really fine so i kept just sinking into it and slipping backward..had to dig the board really deeply into the sand and used it as a climbing aid.
here's us on our second round!
and all of us at the bottom of the dune...wheee!
at the end of our sand boarding experience..tired and burnt but had soo much fun! we went only twice anyways..the climbing up was soo tiring. this guy in our group went 5 times. good luck to him climbing up huh..but he's a marathoner so good on him!
we boarded the 4WD to head to the beach and took plenty loads of jump shots but none were good. still it was fun to laugh at all the failed attempts.
family shot!
then we headed off to the port for lunch on board this ship and some dolphin-watching...
trying to get the wind-whipped hair look..ahahaha...
and we sighted them dolphins!!
on the way back to sydney, i saw this shop that had this really cute banner!
we were back really early so headed out to shop.
went to myers the departmental store where they had really really nice displays..
and my heart leaped with joy when i saw that they were having a 50% sale!
then it dipped again when i saw that all their clothings had tags with 3 digits prices. wanted to get this pair of gladiators but thank god i didn't!
more pretty displays. but i think this was in another departmental store.
we were only visiting departmental stores coz all the other stores were closed. so we set off looking for darling harbour. coz it seems like it had a good night scene from all the guidebooks.
we passed queen victoria building. which was a really old train station transformed into a shopping mall. and it looked really quaint and awesome.
they had this huge xmas tree that reached the top of the building. but from the first story we could only see the base of it and we couldn't go to the higher floors coz it was blocked by security.
this is an actual shop. it's a shoe polishing place!
then we saw this church with light decor on it!
the light decorations changed every few minutes..
then we discovered to our huge horror of walking around for ages that we were heading back to our hotel instead of darling harbour! and we were really hungry by then so we wanted to settle for hungry jacks for dinner when my mum insisted that she wanted to eat a proper aussie meal.
it was really late by then so all the pubs had stopped their dinners and were only serving drinks. until we found this place that was really like hard rock cafe. so we settled down there. until the kitchen staff told us that we had 3 minutes 'til the kitchen was closed!
we were really annoyed and irritated coz we were walking around sydney lost and hungry. my mum took pictures of everyone huddling around their food and they looked really grumpy haha so no posting those pictures up! but here's me with my steak which was really alright only.
and when we were really tired and thought we were heading back to the hotel, we passed this ice cream shop and tried some weird flavours we wanted to try on the first day which we didn't. think it was italian cookies and cream and pistachio. and yes i gained weight from aussie..but hyped up from comfort food. my mum suggested we take a taxi to the casino!
and i didn't see the sign at the entrance saying no photography allowed so i was sneaking shots of the place even though my sis warned me not to. my dad and his first love..haha jackpot machines..
the casino is a scary place that seemed really like an alternate wonderland. coz people got dressed up to the nines to enter. and the thought of making a windfall there just makes the place seemed out of the world. wow like some of the tables had minimum bets of $100. and the players would just throw thousands of dollars at the dealers to exchange for chips. and the way the dealers count the money out on the table with their magician-like hands were amazing to look at.
so here's us leaving the casino..and the picture is super blurry coz at this instant i saw the sign my sister was talking about. and i saw the bouncers at the entrance! so i was fumbling around to hide my cam! don't wanna lose it the second time...
and so we headed back to the hotel after this, really really exhausted. for some reason i couldn't sleep til 3am sydney time. in nepal no matter what, joy would stay up later than me every single night as my room mate. but when i travel with my family, i'm always the last one up. and we had to be up by 6am the next day but i. just. couldn't. sleep. )): so as i was staring at the telly and surfing through channels. i found Whose Line!! wheee..haha had a few laughs and slept like a log after that...
