so i've signed up for the stanchart 21k after much deliberation. made up my mind at the start of the year to just join the 10 but after xinyi told me to just go for it at the evening talk on tuesday, as well as with all the pharm ppl joining the 21, i knew that if i decided to not push myself and join the 10, i'd so hate myself on race day for being a lazy bum. wheee joining the 21 means that i finally get to carbo-load the day before!!! haha i know how crazy that sounds.

but i haven't been enjoying running much these days. maybe it's got to do with the fact that i lost my ipod earphones. it just poofed and disappeared into thin air since the day i headed down to the pool. maybe it's a sign for me to get that itouch haha...

on the other hand, i've been itching to go cycle like forever. the last time i was on a bike was last halloween where we donned our wings on the night roads of singapore and had dimsum.

more of shanghai..the baywindows that my mum loved sitting by in the morning to read the papers while she waited for us slowpokes.

wore my new, proudly-bargained skirt from qipulu out to brekkie. my sis missed breakfast as she was still having the runs. poor thing! and proof that the hotel staff don't clear the bins. our ajisen trash from the night before was still sitting at the same place.

met a singaporean couple at the buffet area and they told us of a new shopping haunt. said they bought dirt-cheap watches and loads of other stuff there. so after breakfast, we all trooped down to this place. it was located slightly out of the city centre.

i couldn't really catch a proper photo but look at the secret wardrobe space behind the shelvings where they kept all the 'real stuff'. they would pull out the entire shelving to reveal a secret room behind.

after scoring some great buys, we settled for lunch before bustling off for more shopping!

haha i realised there're no photos of the place. it seems like the moment we start shopping, we'd completely forget all bout taking pictures.

and i totally miss shanghai right now. i remembered the four of us standing in the rain, waiting in a queue for the taxi back to our hotel. and we were beaming from our buys and just enjoying time spent as a family.

dinner was at this restaurant which were apparently well-known for using loads of chillies in their dishes. we only found out about this when we sat down and were given the menu. the tonnes of chillies that were hanging at the door tastefully as decor should have given us a hint. doh!

what drew us into the restaurant was a picture of xiao long sia, or baby lobsters. my mum knew i wanted to try these xiao long sias so badly in shanghai and so decided on that place for dinner.

my dad insisting on not using his hands to attack these creatures.

here's what they looked like, a hybrid between prawn and crayfish.

here's our second hot dish. fish cooked in oil and of course lots of chilli. that's not soup you see but a whole huge bowl of oil. it's so much oil that the fish don't taste fried, they taste like they were kinda boiled but when you bite into the fish, it's not soft but slightly chewy. i loved this!

haha silly us. but the bowl was really huge...just compare it to the size of the rice bowl.

the waiter offered to scoop out all the floating chillis for us to get to the fish. and my xiao long xia!

chilli-powder pork ribs

and a non-chilli dish to give our taste buds a break.

all gone!

having a hearty meal after an entire day shopping. miss spending time as a family and talking bout the most random stuff over dinner....makes me so wanna go back to shanghai.
